She began her acting career at the beginning of the 1980s and was initially noticed due to the role she played as Siobhan Ryan from 1982-1986 in the drama daytime Ryan's Hope. Catherine Willows is her most famous role in CBS's police procedural drama. Crime Scene Investigation (2000-13) and the subsequent TV movie Immortality (2015). Her role was reprised by the follow-up film Vegas (2022-present). Helgenberger is also known for her role as K.C. The actress won an Emmy Award in 1990 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in the Drama Series for her character in the role of Koloski on the ABC series China Beach from 1988 to 1991. She is also known for roles in the TV series Under the Dome and Intelligence as well as the movies Species (1995) Species II (1998) Erin Brockovich (2000) and Mr. Brooks (2007). She is the youngest of the four siblings. Her Columbia University Bachelors of Art History degree was obtained in 2007. In 2017, she was a part of the morning talk show The View where she co-hosted until 2021 and received the show's four Daytime Emmy award nominations for her work. McCain is also a Daily Mail contributor after her 3 years on The View. McCain also wrote four books including My Dad John McCain (2008) Dirty Sexy Politics (2010) America You Sexy Bitch : A love letter to freedom with Michael Ian Black (2012) and Bad Republican (2022).
